The High Commission of Malaysia together with the rest of ACC members co-hosted and co-organized the 2013 ACC Family Day at Lennox Garden, Yarralumla on the 23rd November 2013.
For this year, the event came under the chairmanship of Laos and saw overwhelming participation from ACC members who took part in the numerous family oriented games held during the day. The day started with the opening remarks from ACC Chair, H.E. Phomma Khammanichanh who later officiated the event.
In the spirit of ASEAN, a total of 9 games were played among 4 teams with mix number of players from each member of ACC including a game of golf pitching by the ACC Head of Missions or their representatives to kick start the day. The games also featured a ping pong ball race, candy passing contest, cracker eating contest and futsal, which among others have promoted a closer working as well as social relationship between ACC Mission members.
The day continued with a sumptuous offering of traditional ASEAN food from each Mission which saw guests spoiled for choice. The High Commission through PERWAKILAN had prepared an array of delicacies which included Kedah Royal Rice, “Satay Kajang” Grilled Chicken, Beef Curry Nyonya, Acar Rampai KLCC, Pulut Kuning Putrajaya, Penang Tropical Jelly and Ipoh Yam Cake.
As implemented in previous events, ACC Missions have also invited their respective counterparts from DFAT and this year event saw the attendance of several officers and their family members including Mr. Allaster Cox, the First Assistant Secretary for South-East Asia Division.
In all, amid the fun and thrill of the games and harmonious atmosphere of the day, the family day has again brought ASEAN family members closer together in strength while organising the event and enduring the challenging time of the recent espionage accusations. The participation and attendance of all quarters during the day said it all.
