On 13 August 2018, the ASEAN Committee in Canberra (ACC) hosted the ASEAN Day Reception to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of ASEAN at the Dewan Merdeka, High Commission of Malaysia.
The memorable event was graced with the attendance of the Honourable Senator Concetta Fierravanti Wells, Minister for International Development and the Pacific. Around 300 guests comprising Members of Parliament, government officials, Heads of Mission and members of the diplomatic corps and members of the business community attended this reception.
During the reception, the Honourable Senator Concetta exchanged toast with Ambassador Sisavath Inphachanh of Laos, as the current Chairman of the ACC. In their remarks, both sides highlighted the significance of ASEAN and the strong relations between ASEAN and Australia. The guests were entertained with classical guitar performance.
