On 19 April 2021, YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia had a videoconference with the Honourable Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia to exchange views on various bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest. The key topics discussed were the progress and plan of action for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Covid19 and mental health. Both sides look forward to the implementation of the CSP.
The bilateral meeting was then followed by a trilateral, with the participation of The Honourable Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei where the Foreign Ministers discussed the increasing cases of mental health and the need to promote better mental health initiatives and partnership with civil society, especially in terms of awareness, prevention and treatment. Australia, Brunei and Malaysia look forward to mainstreaming mental health within the region.
