The Malaysian High Commission in Canberra hosted the 2011 National Day Reception on 26 September 2011 at Malaysia House. The reception began with a toast by Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and High Commissioner followed by national anthems of Malaysia and Australia.
The guests in attendance included The Honourable Dr Craig Emerson MP, Australian Minister for Trade, The Honourable Mr Chris Bowen MP, Australian Minister for Immigration and General David Hurley, Chief of the Defence Force. Approximately 260 guests turned out for the event, topping last year’s turnout. Other guests included members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the local and international business communities.
