2017 MERDEKA COMMEMORATION SERVICE

In conjunction with the 60th Merdeka Day celebration, the Malaya-Borneo Veterans Association (MBVA), Malayan Volunteers Group (MVG) and the Association of Malaysians in Western Australia (AMWA) with the full support from the Consulate-General had organised a small event to honour the fallen heroes who had fought for then Malaya and Malaysia from the World War II era, Emergency period and Confrontation years. The event was attended by approximately 150 attendees representing various groups that come under the umbrella of Malaysian community in Perth.
In his short remarks, the Consul-General other than acknowledging and recognising the courage and dedication by the fallen heroes and those who survived the ordeal, he underscored the importance of Malaysians abroad to embrace the spirit of Negaraku Sehati Sejiwa, to remain united notwithstanding of their whereabouts and to continue to be the proud bearers of Jalur Gemilang.
