We are happy to inform you that this year’s Family Day will be a Hari Raya - Deepavali Open House celebration jointly organised by Malaysian students in WA and the Consulate General of Malaysia. This event will be held on Saturday, 10 October 2009 from 11.30 to 15.00 hours at the Kardinya Community Centre, Morris Buzacott Reserve Williamson Rd, Kardinya, WA 6163. This event is a continuation of last year’s Family Day held on 22 November 2008.

In line with the 1Malaysia – People First Performance Now concept introduced by our new Prime Minister, the Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak, this event provides a platform for Malaysians and students to meet new/old friends, exchange ideas/news/jokes, enjoy the Malaysian cuisine, hospitality/atmosphere, dancing and performance, all in the spirit of “muhibbah”.

There will be home-cooked food such as nasi minyak, ketupat, beef rendang, lamb korma, vegetarian dalca, mee goreng, murukku, soft drinks, etc. At the same time, adopting the “Aussie” culture we also encourage you to BYO (pot luck) to avoid any short fall of food. We welcome any volunteers and contributions to make this event even more successful and enjoyable.

We hope to see you all during the Hari Raya - Deepavali Open House celebration at Kardinya Community Centre on 10 October 2009 from 11.30 to 15.00 hours. If you decide to attend the above said celebration, kindly indicate your name and number of persons as soon as possible before 8 October 2009. Your early response is appreciated.

“Selamat Hari Raya” to our Muslim friends and a “Happy Deepavali” to our Hindu friends.
