MERDEKA MONTH OPENING CEREMONY

The Malaysian Students Council in Australia (Western Australia Chapter) [MASCA WA] in collaboration with various partners including all Malaysian students’ organisations in Perth as well as WeMalaysia had officially launched its month-long programme to commemorate the 60th Merdeka celebration. More than 120 Malaysians - students and those with permanent resident status in Perth - attended the Opening Ceremony which was held at Malaysia Hall Perth.
Among the activities that are to be carried out include WA Olympics or better known as WAlympic, Kampung Fest, Jom Lepak (movie night) and ASEAN SEAmposium 2017. The organisation of those activities will be led by the students and participation from the wider public including those from ASEAN Member States to mark another milestone achievement, namely, ASEAN Golden Jubilee celebration where Malaysia is the current Chair of the ASEAN Group in Perth.
During the Opening Ceremony, some students put up entertaining performances in the form of poetry recital, pantomime and musical performances.
