WARISAN MELAYU GEMILANG PERTH

The Malay Association of Western Australia (MAWA) had successfully organised a special cultural event called Warisan Melayu Gemilang Perth where cultural troupe from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) known as Adi Karma was invited to perform various types of Malay dances before an audience of 150 including local Members of Parliament, local Government representatives and other relevant parties. A special silat demonstration was performed by Persatuan Seni Silat Gayung Australia. In addition, the famous singer from Okestra Temasek - Mahani Mahmud - was also flown in to entertain the audience with her silky voice by belting out a number of popular Malay traditional songs.
While in Perth, the delegation from USM had also organised Malay language classes as well basic Malay dance class for the community with the view to maximising the impact of their presence. In recognising their efforts, the Consul-General of Malaysia had hosted a thank you dinner at his residence on 20 November 2017.
