II. Political:
Justice: Political Societies shall abide by the constitution and Amal Dissolved.
The Political Societies Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments announced yesterday that it had received the court verdict of dissolving the Islamic Action Society (Amal Society), and justified that by saying that this decision was made because of the Society’s continuous transgressions of the law and the ethics of peaceful political work. The Bureau also stressed on the essential need for political societies to abide by the constitution and respect the rule of the law-a requirement which is basic to protect the right of exercising political work and back its development.
Activist Nabeel Rajab detained and sentenced to 3 months in Jail.
The Lower Criminal Court yesterday sentenced Prominent Human Rights Activist Nabeel Rajab to three months in jail for allegedly having insulted Muharraq residents on his twitter account. Chief Prosecutor Nayef Yusuf Mahmoud said that a group of residents from Muharraq lodged a complaint against the defendant for tarnishing their reputation and casting doubt on their patriotism. Nabeel Abdulrasool Rajab appeared before the Public Prosecution accused of smearing the people of Muharraq and questioning their patriotism.

Al Baraka Symposium takes place on 25th
Bahrain-based Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG), one of the leading Islamic banking group based in Bahrain, is to hold its annual Symposium for Islamic Economy from 25 to 26 July 2012 at Hilton Hotel in Jeddah, KSA. It is planned that a number of emerging financial transactions and some other economic issues from an Islamic perspective will be studied. The Symposium will be held for this session under the chairmanship of Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, Chairman of Al Baraka Banking Group.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism, Environment:
GOYS President patronises the 13th GCC Scientific Symposium.
Under the patronage of the President of the General Organization for Youth and Sport (GOYS), Mr. Hesham Mohammed Al Jowdar, the 13th scientific symposium of the GCC youths was opened in the presence of the Director-General of Youth Activities in Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Dabbassi, Director of the Youth Director at the Secretariat-General of the GCC Waleed Al-Farhan and heads of GCC delegations. The event, themed “Renewable Energy”, was attended by a great number of participants from Bahrain and other GCC countries. In his opening remarks, Al Jowdar asserted that the meeting aims at providing an opportunity to shed light on renewable energy more and that the GCC youths were meeting in Bahrain to tackle such issues and be informed on their latest developments.
