.HM patronises graduation ceremony of the fourth Joint Command and Staff session.
The Supreme Commander of Bahrain Defence Force, HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, patronized yesterday the graduation ceremony of the fourth Joint Command and Staff session. On arrival at the Royal Command and Staff College (RCSC), HM was welcomed by BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and RCSC Commander. During the ceremony, HM said that accomplishing any mission successfully requires harmonious and meticulous work. He pointed out to the need for the GCC armed forces, now more than ever before, to play a protective role to ensure security and stability of the nations, boost the rule of law and maintain the march towards more progress.
Public Prosecution refutes statements made by Al-Saffar to AlWasat.
The Chief Prosecutor Nayef Yussef said that the statements made by Dr. Rola Saffar and published by a local newspaper (Alwasat) yesterday, describing them as having no iota of truth. To Alwasat Al Safsar, however, stated yesterday that four Bahraini doctors had been detained for treating wounded people during the unrest back to February and March 2011, which she said was a humanitarian duty. The Chief Prosecutor explained the first convict was sentenced to three years in prison for seizure of public money. The second and the third were sentenced to three years in jail for illegal gathering and trouble-making. The fourth convict was sentenced to three years in prison in a similar case but after appealing the verdict, the sentence was reduced to two years only, the Chief Prosecutor explained

Bahrain reduces cruise ship tariffs.
The board of the General Organisation of Seaports (GOP) approved a reduction on the tariffs levied on cruise ships during the meeting. GOP’s statement said that this decision was a part of a series of suggested initiatives aimed at boosting cruise ship traffic to Bahrain in 2012 and beyond. The decision was based on the outcome of a series of meetings between the GOP and its stakeholders from the public and private sectors, which focused on putting together a set of recommendations to enhance inbound cruise ship activity.
Cluttons in deal to manage Bahrain tower.
An agreement was signed yesterday between the deputy general manager and chief business officer of the Eskan Bank Ahmad Tayara and Cluttons (Bahrain) head of country Harry Goodson-Wicke. Cluttons, the real estate specialist, has been appointed by the bank to undertake the leasing and management of Segaya Plaza, a mixed-use real estate development currently under construction in Manama. Tayara said that select for Cluttons came after an extensive study of all the leading real estate service providers and consulting firms operating with a commendable track record in Bahrain and the Middle East.
LMRA warns of checkup violations.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has warned expat workers who have failed to take mandatory medical tests after being in the kingdom for more than six months; that they will be penalized. This comes after an LMRA study, revealed in March, about 11,600 expat workers failed to take mandatory medical tests. Measures taken have helped bring down the number to just over 5,400. Chief executive Ausamah Al Absi said the LMRA, in cooperation with Bahrain International Airport and immigration, has put in place an electronic system at the airport through which appointments for check-ups at health centers are given to new workers when they arrive.

Bapco extends financial support to AWA.
Bapco extended a financial support to the American Women’s Association in support of the activities and programs organized by the association in serving the community. Bapco’s Chief Executive, Gordon Smith has recently received the Vice President of the American Women’s Association, Jeanice Freeman at Bapco’s Guesthouse (Al-Dar) in Awali. Commenting on the occasion, Smith said Bapco was proud of its ongoing support to the various civil institutions of the Kingdom as part of its social responsibility towards the Bahraini community.
Tamkeen HR management workshops conclude.
Tamkeen’s Human Resources Management Workshops which was attended by 28 Bahraini professionals completed the second series of, held at the Gulf Hotel. The workshops, which focused on the process of recruitment and selection, are part of Tamkeen’s ongoing drive to develop human capital according to labour market requirements to make Bahrainis the employee of choice in the private sector. The English-language workshops, delivered by Third Wave International and Deakin Prime, aim at enhancing the competencies of HR professionals and bring international best practices in this field to Bahrain.
