Bahrain is capable of overcoming all obstacles hindering its development march.
Minister of Labor Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said yesterday, while attending the “National Reconciliation” workshop hosted by the Ministry in cooperation with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), that Bahrain is capable of overcoming all obstacles hindering its development march due to its deep-rooted civilizational heritage and rich cultural history blessed with tolerance, solidarity and national cohesion. He also pointed out that the Ministry of Labor is resolved to promote the genuine national values in all its institutions in order to create a healthy work environment that embraces everybody and motivates all sides to cooperate.
BCCI backs the Interior plans to demarcate areas for rallies and marches.
Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman, Dr. Essam Fakhro said that the BCCI backs yesterday the plans to demarcate areas for rallies and marches to be held in conformity with the law. Minister of Interior, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa issued directives to study the scheme. The initiative aims at ensuring the constitutionally-guaranteed freedom of expression is exercised legally without disrupting people’s interests or blocking public and private facilities.

Minister Fakhro carries inspections to check supply, prices.
Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Hassan Fakhro, along with senior officials from the ministry carried out inspections of the local markets including Manama Central Market, Mega Mart, in addition to Bahrain City Center and Seef Mall. During his visits, the minister was briefed on market and shoppers movement, especially in Manama where the traders assured the availability of various types of foods and vegetables and fruits in particular those high in demand for the holy month of Ramadan. The Minister stated that the government and the Ministry would continue to follow up all trends in the local market and the prices movement especially food and consumers goods and to check markets readiness to receive the Holy month of Ramadan in terms of special promotions and prices.
LMRA reduces quota for locals to 15% in garments sector.
Bahrain Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) CEO Mr. Osamah bin Abdulla Al Absi said that the authority will put in place a new system for garments sector aiming at rising the wages of Bahraini employees and improve their working conditions. According to the agreed formula, now the garments sector requires to keep Bahrainisation level at 15% against 20% as per the previous guidelines. Al Absi explained that the move would enable the ready-made clothes industry to compete at the international level through a package of new facilities and more flexibility in the Bahrainisation system in return for additional gains for Bahraini workers whose majority are women.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism, Environment:
Bahrain plans to tackle sickle cell disease effectively.
Minister of Health Mr. Sadeq Al Shehabi will submit a report to the cabinet today in which he will include in it the Ministry of Health’s visions to confront the dangers of the sickle cell disease (Alsiklar) after the death toll has gone up with three victims passing away in one day last week. A team of consultants and officials at the Ministry prepared the visions and presented them to the Health Minister last Thursday. The team was formed following an urgent extended meeting held by the Health Minister with officials and consultants last week.
V. Photo of the Day:
The General Organisation for Youth and Sport (GOYS) held yesterday its closing ceremony of the “Mission” program, launched earlier this year with the participation of 120 competitors selected from 300 male and female youths. Maryam Al Abbasi, Nahla Khaled and Mohammed Ibrahim won the first places respectively in the competition sponsored by Tamkeen. 14th June 2012 Al-Wasat.
