Kingdom of Bahrain's MP Dr Abdulnasser Janahi was selected Secretary General of the Arab Parliament during the 9th Parliament’s Office meeting held at the Arab League headquarters yesterday. President of the Arab Parliament Ahmed Mohammed Al Jarwan said candidates for the post included Ali Hasan Al Zayoud from Jordanian Upper House, Bahrain's MP Dr Abdulnasser Janahi, Tunisian National Constituents Assembly member Dhameer Al Mannai, Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Yahia from Saudi Shura Council and Egypt's Shura Council member Ali Sayed Fath Al Bab.
UN Special Rapporteur delays visit to Bahrain at his request.
The Minister for Human Rights Affairs Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman has revealed that the Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has requested to postpone a visit to Bahrain in February, 2013. Dr. Salah Ali said that the kingdom invited the Special Rapporteur on torture to visit it in February, 2013, in line with its keenness to honour its human rights commitments. The Minister added that Bahrain welcomes all visits by UN officials in order to enable them to be informed about its landmark achievements and efforts to develop its performance regarding human rights practices.
Palestinian Embassy in Bahrain marks the 48th anniversary of the Palestinian Revolution.
The Palestinian Embassy in Bahrain held a ceremony marking the 48th anniversary of the Palestinian Revolution. The Event initiated the event in the presence of officials representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN, the Parliament, the Shura Council and Bahrain Majlisses. Arab ambassadors, members of the Arab and Foreign diplomatic corps, foreign expatriate communities, prominent figures and members were also present. The Palestinian Foreign bilateral relations director Dhafer Al-Omrane addressed the ceremony and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinians’ inalienable rights. He cited the principled stances of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in all arenas.

Telecommunications Minister honors Employees.
The Minister of State for Telecommunications Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa honoured technical affairs and operations director Mohammed Tayeb Mahmoud and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) legal affairs officer Ahmed Abdulla Al-Absi in recognition of their efforts to promote the TRA performance. He commended all employees for their dedication to protect the TRA interests and preserve its administrative and financial rights. He also hailed the TRA achievement, swooping the award of best regulatory organization in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for the third time at the annual CommsMEA2012 ceremony in Dubai.

Bint Rajab receives a delegation from Bahrain Society for Tolerance and Religious Co-existence.
The State Minister for Information Affairs and the government’s official Spokesperson, Samira Ibrahim bint Rajab received a delegation from Bahrain Society for Tolerance and Religious Co-existence, led by Rev. Hani Aziz of Bahrain's National Evangelical Church yesterday. She stressed that supporting dialogue and common understanding, renouncing violence, fanaticism and hatred and boosting religious, doctrinal and intellectual tolerance are the main pillars of the reform project of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She explained that the draft decree to set up a supreme authority for information and communication aims to set the necessary rules to promote the Press and media profession, boost respect of religions and cultures and immunize the society from sectarianism and hatred.
