“Al Fateh Coalition”: We want a GCC Union that does not impede the democratic development.
“Al Fateh Coalition” of the political Societies of The National Unity Coalition, Al Minbar Society, Al Asalah, the National Charter Society, Al Hiwar Association and the Islamic unity have organized a gathering at Al Fateh Mosque in Juffair and emphasized that they are supportive of a “GCC Union that does not prevent any of the member states to choose its democratic path, chosen by its people, and a one that does notimpede any member also from the democratic development.” Leader of the National Unity Coalition, Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Mahmoud urged the Government to follow up with the implementation of the recommendations of the National Consensus Dialogue as a better solution in the Bahraini current political crisis.” He also commented on the calls for union project saying that such calls were raised from a long time, from the 1950’s, and now we are more clutched to it.”
The GCCC Permanent Delegates to UN Condemn Iranian Statements.
Permanent delegates of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to the UN have strongly denounced the statements of the Iranian Legislative Council’s Speaker Ali Lalrijani and Deputy Speaker “Hussain Ali Shahriyari” against Kingdom of Bahrain, describing them as “a continuation of the Iran’s flagrant interference in the internal affairs of the GCC countries for the sake of undermining the efforts of its members states to enhance their complementarity and cooperation and an encroachment on Bahrain’s sovereignty.” In a letter to the UN Secretary-General and President of the Security Council, the GCC representatives condemned in the strongest terms and rejected categorically the Iranian “regretful conduct” which contradicts with the principles of good neighbourliness and the UN Charter.
Bahrain Issues Lebanon Travel Advisory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday has urged Bahrainis not to travel to the Republic of Lebanon at the moment as a cautionary measure for their safety, given the unstable security situation in the country. In a travel advisory issued, the ministry also called upon Bahrainis, currently in Lebanon, to either leave or keep off insecure zones.
III. Economic, Trade, Business:
Bahrain to Host Petrotech 2012.
Under the auspices of HRH of the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Bahrain will be hosting the 8th Middle East International Refining and Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition “Petrotech 2012” at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from May 20 to 23. Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza will open the event, and will meet over 800 officials and experts in refining and petrochemicals. On the occasion, Dr. Mirza Energy extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH the Premier for his keenness to patronize the biennial event since its inception in 1996, adding that such an international function attracts massive participation. Dr. Mirza also said that on the sidelines of Petrotech 2012, there will be an exhibition held, displaying the latest technology in the field of petrochemicals.
Tatarstan President Receives Bahrain Delegation.
President of the Republic of Tatarstan, in Russia, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his country’s keenness on promoting relations with Kingdom of Bahrain. He hailed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s landmark visit to Russia, stressing the positive results it yielded then. This came as he received a Shura Council delegation led by the chairman of Financial and Economic Committee Khalid Hussein Al-Maskati, who conveyed greetings from the wise leadership and wishes for the people of Tatarstan of further progress and prosperity. The delegation also included Dr. Abdulaziz Abul, Ahmed Behzad and Dr. Mohammed Hassan Al-Sitri.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism:
“All sacked employees will be reinstated,” Labor Minister stated.
Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan attended yesterday the annual ceremony marking the International Workers’ Day held on Saturday, where the Minister said that in line with the leadership’s vision the remaining sacked employees would be reinstated soon. The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions organized the event at the Crowne Plaza. Minister Humaidan paid tribute to HM King Hamad for his keenness on patronizing the annual event and pride in Bahraini workers in recognition of their dedication in serving the nation and pushing economic and social development forward for youngsters to enjoy a bright future. He announced that the remaining disputed cases of sacked workers would be addressed soon, crediting the wise leadership for its support.
