“Bahrain’s policy is based on consolidating the concept of respecting human rights and achieving equality and justice.”
HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received yesterday at Alsafriya Palace the State Minister for Human Rights Dr. Salah bin Ali bin Mohammed and the head of the Bahraini delegation in charge of presenting Bahrain national periodic report before the Human Rights Council in Geneva . Dr. Salah briefed HM on the most important issues that were discussed before the Human Rights Council and the steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to consolidate the concept of respecting Human rights and the democratic approach as per the international law and norms. HM the King hailed the efforts of the delegation members and affirmed that the policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to consolidate the concept of respecting human rights and achieving equality and justice as per the international standards.
Bahrain constitutes panel on reforms implementation.
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa announced yesterday that the government officially approved the establishment of an authority charged to follow up the implementation of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) recommendations. He affirmed that such moves come in line with HM and the Cabinet directives. Dana Al-Zayani has been appointed as chairperson of the new authority, while Hussain Alam will take over as follow-up director. Supreme Judicial Council Advisor for development and planning affairs judge Khalid Mohieddine Ahmed has also been appointed as consultant. The newly-established panel will assist the minister and coordinate all parties concerned with the implementation of the recommendations.
III. Economic, Trade, Business:
1st Global Intrapreneurship Forum Concludes.
The 1st Global Intrapreneurship Forum was successfully yesterday concluded as the main organizer the Firm announced. The Firm (TF) is an international private members networking organization for business development and intrapreneurship. The two day event which was held under the patronage of His Excellency, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Hassan Fakhro, marked the first ever event of its kind to be held globally. With more than 100 participants from the GCC and MENA region, the USA, Europe and Asia, the Forum focused on highlighting the importance of intrapreneurship in economic growth and development.
Energy Minister holds talks with Minister Transport.
Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza Minister of Energy and the Head of the National Oil and Gas Authority held a meeting with Mr. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed the Minister of Transport and the acting CEO of the Economic Development Board (EDB). Dr. Mirza expressed his appreciation for the EDB’s prominent role in attracting investments to the country, and praised its ongoing coordination with the oil industry sector. The Minister of Transport praised the role of the oil and gas sector in the Kingdom, stressing the importance of the projects being implemented in this sector, which will contribute in moving the economic cycle in Bahrain, and will create new areas of employment for citizens. The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials of the NOGA and the EDB and the Chairman of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC).
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism:
Bahrain launches Summer Festival 2012
Ministry of Culture launched events and programs of Bahrain Summer Festival, on its 4th annual run. Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa the Minister of Culture announced in a press conference yesterday that the festival will be launched on the 14th of June and will continue for a full month. The event will be held under the banner “Manama, the City of Joy”. Culture Minister confirmed that this year’s festival will be rich with a variety of new activities and many musical,cultural, educational and entertaining evenings and programs to suit the Bahraini and Gulf and Arab families and residents and visitors of all ages. This year’s Festival coincides with Manama being crowned the Arab Capital of Culture 2012 and the Arab Capital of Tourism 2013. The event will be held in the Bahrain International Exhibition Center.
