Bahrain takes part in Arab League meeting in Doha.
Mr. Ghanim Al-Buainain the State Minister for Foreign Affairs headed yesterday Bahrain's delegation to the Arab Peace Initiative Committee, held under the chairmanship of Qatar's Premier and Minister of Foreign affairs Shaikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabur Al Thani in Qatar. The meeting was attended by the President of the Palestinian Authority Mr. Mahmood Abbas, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain delegations.The meeting tackled the steps taken by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) after the failure of the 6-round meeting between the Palestinians and Israelis in Jordan. The Arab league Secretary-General also presented a report on the Arab role in supporting the Palestinian side in the upcoming phases.

NOGA Issues Final 2011 Report.
The National Oil and Gas Authority issued yesterday its final report for 2011. This is the 6th edition to-date following the Royal degree (63) establishing NOGA. The 2011 Report features eight chapters compiling NOGA achievements. It details positives results posted by the vital sectors of oil and gas, listing key events hosted in Bahrain- which further bolstered the Kingdom’s status as a hub for global events. The year 2011 was a landmark year for the country's oil and gas sector, with a number of records being set and initiatives being launched, a key report issued by the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) has said.

Minister of Energy Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza and Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa agreed on the mechanisms to ensure the payment of the dues of ministries and state departments to the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA). Under the agreement, the Finance Ministry transferred over BD 22 million to EWA.On the occasion, Dr. Mirza praised the Finance Minister for taking the initiative and paying the dues of government bodies directly from their accounts. He also called upon consumers to pay their unpaid bills as soon as possible so that EWA can implement its strategic projects and provide quality services, as instructed by the government.
Bahrain plant awards maintenance contract.
US-based Minerals Technologies, a resource and technology-based growth company, said its unit has signed an deal with United Steel Company (SULB) for the refractory maintenance at its greenfield steel mill in Hidd, Bahrain. SULB is a joint venture between Bahrain-based Gulf United Steel Holding Company (Foulath), the Middle East's leading steel investment and holding company, and Yamato Kogyo Company of Japan, a leading global beams and structural sections producer. The Kingdom is due to start up during the third quarter. As per the contract, Minteq, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Minerals Technologies, will be responsible for co-ordinating refractory materials, manpower and equipment with Magnesita of Germany and Krosaki-Harima of Japan.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism:
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minster and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shaikh Isa Humanity Service Award, praised the existing cooperation between the Royal Charity Organization and Shaikh Isa Humanity Service Award. This comes after the reception of the Secretariat for one million dollars Award from the Royal Charity Organization to fund the Award which was established in 2009 in memory of the late Amir Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. The Award will be presented as an encouragement and celebrating those who contribute in the service of humanity on the regional, Arab and international levels.
V. Other News:
Shaikh Nasser leads Bahrain’s team at Hamburg race.
Bahrain Royal Endurance Team under the leadership of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president, will take part in Hamburg 160 and 120 km endurance races. This is the first time Bahrain Royal Endurance Team participates in a race in this German region. Shaikh Nasser will be joined by Yacoub Al-Hammadi-winner of the Cups of HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince will also take part in the race, along with Raed Mahmoud, Jaafar Mirza, Houd Ibrahim,Mohammed Al-Thawadi, Salman Isa and others. Bahrain Royal Endurance Team director Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al-Khalifa, Yusuf Taher and Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa will compete in the 120-kilometre ride.
