The Embassy of Malaysia in the Kingdom of Bahrain held the Hari Sukan Negara 2016 celebration on 8 October 2016 at the Main Indoor Stadium of the Al-Muharraq Sports Club. The memorable event was attended by approximately 80 Malaysians and Friends of Malaysia in Bahrain that also saw the inaugural launching of the Malaysian Bowling Club in Bahrain. During the three hours event, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, futsal, basketball and aerobics took place.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ahmad Shahizan Abd Samad encapsulated the message of transformational process to make sports as Malaysia’s competitive agenda and healthy lifestyle as inculcating the spirit nationalism, patriotism and sense of identity. More importantly, he highlighted the declaration to include ‘sporting nation’ in our Vision 2020, in addition to the norm of being a developed, high-income, advance economy, and inclusiveness which was declared today.
