The International Family Fair (IFF) 2017 was organized by the British School Bahrain (BSB) on Friday, 24 November 2017 at the school compound. Around 5,000 visitors attended the BSB IFF this year. The family fair aims to foster a palpable sense of community spirit, inclusivity and international minded in the students who come from 80 plus nations worldwide and raise funds for the school and the charity organizations in Bahrain.
The BSB IFF provides two platforms namely, the Country Stalls which involves parents’ participation from different countries to promote their culture heritage and decoration of the stall is based on a particular theme selected by the organizer. Items to be sold and displayed range from traditional food to handicraft and others that are unique from the participants’ home countries.
The second platform is Market Place, which participation is opened to public with minimal fee. It provide opportunity for member of the public to showcase and promote their goods to be sold to the visitors.
This year, there are 14 Malaysian students from 8 families who choose to demonstrate cultures of East Malaysia, namely Sabah and Sarawak. The Embassy of Malaysia in the Kingdom of Bahrain supported the efforts by the Malaysian parents by the attendance of H.E. Ambassador Agus and wife at the opening ceremony, as well as securing the support from Tourism Sabah and Tourism Sarawak. Positive response were given by both agencies by providing promotional materials including pamphlets, coffee table books and bracelets, fridge magnets etc
