HM King Hamad to pay historic visit to Japan.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa is expected to pay an historic visit to Japan. Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa received a Japanese media delegation representing NHK TV Channel and Shimbun newspaper, ahead of HM the King’s landmark visit to the Land of the Rising Sun. The team arrived in Bahrain to meet senior officials and keep abreast of the Kingdom’s development strides. Shaikh Fawaz hailed strong historic relations and steadily-growing cooperation in all fields, stressing his keen interest to bolster bilateral ties further.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Al-Safriya Palace yesterday Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain Shigeki Sumi who introduced to him a number of Japanese businessmen residing in the kingdom as well as Bahrain-Japan Business and Friendship Society President Mubarak bin Jassim Kanoo.

Bahrain leads Arab World in networked readiness index.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has been ranked top in the region in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Information Technology Report, produced in cooperation with INSEAD. The Kingdom has also improved its position within the top 30 global economies, climbing three places, and is now ranked 27yj of 133 economies worldwide. The report highlights Bahrain’s ideal investment environment (ranked 27th out of 133 economies worldwide) and places particular emphasis on the government commitment to ICT, with a high ranking in government usage (4th). The Kingdom also offers good ICT readiness (25th) in terms of infrastructure, affordability and overall skills, and a sophisticated platform for entrepreneurship and innovation (11th).
Energy Minister Receives US Resource Chairman.
Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza yesterday received US Resource Company chairman Dennis Pierce and discussed key economic issues, particularly the investments in the sectors of oil and gas. He also stressed the keenness of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) to cooperate with leading international powerhouses to ensure the progress of the oil and gas industries in Bahrain.

Minister of Justice Receives Former British MPs.
Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa received in his office yesterday former members of the British House of Commons Mr. Ken Burgess and Mr. David Welcher, and the Chairman of the Gulf Center for Strategic Studies Dr. Omar Al-Hassam, currently on a visit to the kingdom. During the meeting, Shaikh Khalid praised the advanced level the solid historical relations bonding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom. Talks focused also on legal issues.
