Foreign Minister receives letter from his Danish counterpart regarding Al Khawajah.
According to the latest statements coming from different Bahraini and International Human Rights Organizations, the life of the 57 days hunger striker in detention Abdul Hadi Al Khawajah is in real jeopardy. Mr. Al Khawaja,,is a prominent Bahraini HR activist and former president and co-founder of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR), and a Frontline member. On this context the Bahraini Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has yesterday received a written message from his Danish counterpart Villy Sovndal in which he requested transferring Abdul Hadi Al Khawajah to Denmark in order receive the proper medical treatment.
Joint Air Force exercise begins later Today.
The Basic Liaison Drill 2012, organised by the (BDF) Bahrain Defence Force, will commence on Sunday with an unprecedented participation of 100 jet-fighters from ten sisterly and friendly countries. The military exercise is part of the Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) training schemes in collaboration with other countries to maintain security and stability of the Gulf region. This type of drills aims to enhance the competence of pilots and technicians in air forces as well as support and manoeuvre units. This year’s drill is considered the biggest ever since 1988. RBAF held a preparatory meeting with representatives of participating countries which are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, the USA and the host country Bahrain.

Minister of Transportation holds a series of meetings and visits with various Singaporean officials.
Bahrain Minister of Transport, Mr. Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed conducted a series of meetings and visits in the Republic of Singapore, where both sides promoted ways to consolidate and strengthen areas of cooperation between Bahrain and Singapore in the field of transportation and post. The Bahraini Minister of Transportation met with his Singapore’s counterpart, Lui Tuck Yew, where they discussed bilateral relations, and ways to exchange expertise in the area of transportation and communications between the two countries, and also ways to benefit from Singapore’s experience. For his part, Bahrain’s Minister of transportation expressed his admiration with Singapore’s experience, and looked for more cooperation with Singapore to develop means of transportation in Bahrain.
2012 eGov Forum kicks off Today.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), opens the fifth Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012 later today at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Bahrain. During the inaugural ceremony, His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister will also initiate Bahrain IT Expo and honour this year’s winners of the eGovernment Excellence Award 2012. The exhibition will open its gates for the public from April 9th to 11th at the same venue – Ritz-Carlton’s Al Ghazal Ballroom.
IV. Social, Culture, Tourism:
Tamkeen Receives a Delegation from Ladies First International.
Tamkeen (Labour Fund) has received a delegation from “Ladies First International” organization, a worldwide women network headquartered in France, as part of the delegation’s current visit to the Kingdom from April 2–6. The delegation was introduced to the wide range of Tamkeen’s support programmes to Bahrainis and enterprises within the private sector, including those dedicated to providing training and funding to empower Bahraini women and increase their contribution to economic development, in line with Vision 2030. The delegation was headed by Marie-Blanche Sirven-Vienot, President of First Ladies International. Accompanying her were Sherifa Al-Belooshi, wife of the Ambassador of Bahrain in France and senior representatives from the Women’s Council.
