The 2nd meeting of the Internet Governance Forum of the United Nations was held in Rio de Janeiro. Malaysian delegation comprised of officials from the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications, AG Chambers, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Multimedia Development Corporation attended the meeting.

TYT Ambassador of Malaysia to Brazil, Dato’ Ismail Mustapha hosted a dinner at his Residence for all Brazilian ex-participants. The dinner was also attended by diplomats from the Indonesian Embassy and the Suriname Embassy who have attended the MTCP courses when they served in their ministries. Other guests invited included officials form the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil, Brazilian Central Bank, University of Brasilia, Ministry of Science and Technology and Agriculture Research Corporation of Brazil. The dinner provided an opportunity for ex-MTCP participants to interact and exchange contacts. It also gave an opportunity for the Embassy and invited guests to exchange views and information in finding ways on how MTCP cooperation could be further enhanced. At the dinner, Ambassador briefed guests on the background of the MTCP programme and outlined the courses offered under the MTCP programme. He added that the Malaysian Government welcomes more Brazilian participation in courses offered under the MTCP. At the dinner, the Embassy prepared information kits on the MTCP for distribution to the guests.
