On 5 February 2018, His Excellency Datuk Lim Juay Jim had a meeting with Mr. Jarbas Barbosa Da Silva Júnior, the Director President of the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA). Also in attendance were Mr. Osvaldo Luis de Oliveira Barros, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Belo Horizonte; Mr. Edison Choong Wan Sern, Trade Commissioner, MATRADE Sao Paulo; and Ms. Norliyana Alias, First Secretary.
ANVISA is an autarchy linked to the Ministry of Health, part of the Brazilian National Health System as the coordinator of the Brazilian Health Regulatory System present throughout the national territory.
During the meeting, the Ambassador was briefed on ANVISA’s role in promoting the protection of the population’s health by executing sanitary control of the production, marketing and use of products and services subject to health regulation, including related environments, processes, ingredients and technologies, as well as the control in ports, airports and borders. The Ambassador expressed interest to strengthen cooperation with ANVISA in research and academic exchange with the agency.
