Working Visit by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Malaysia to Brazil, 19 - 23 June 2012

YB Dato’ Sri Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Malaysia led the Malaysian delegation to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20) held from 19 to 23 June 2012. The Minister delivered Malaysia’s Statement Summit on 22 June 2012.  He participated at Round Table 1 “Looking at the way forward in implementing the expected outcomes of the Conference” held on 22 June 2012 and participated at the side event organised by WWF International on Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security on 21 June 2012.

 
While in Rio de Janeiro, YB Minister also visited the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) Exhibition Booth, at the Athletes´ Park, which showcased the sustainable cultivation of oil palm and its varied uses.
 
YB Minister also took the opportunity to visit the Jardim Botanico. The 142-hectar garden is home to one of the largest tropical botanical gardens in the world, with some of the rarest species of plants from the flora of Brazil and other countries, and many species of tropical birds, fish and mammals.
