The Embassy of Malaysia in Berne, with the support of PERWAKILAN Berne, participated in the International Day 2013 of the International School of Berne (ISBerne) held on 8 June 2013 on the school grounds in Gümligen, Berne. The ISB International Day is an annual event that celebrates the school’s cultural diversity and commitment to the international community in Berne.
The country stalls selling traditional food and crafts were a great attraction at the event. Not to be missed was the Malaysian stall which served nasi minyak, roti jala and chicken curry, curry puffs. kuih bakar and ondeh-ondeh. They were favourites as many kept coming back for more. Sales of Malaysian handicrafts, batik sarong and scarves were encouraging and many people took interest in Malaysia as a tourist destination judging by the many enquiries and requests for the attractive brochures and posters.
ISBerne’s International Day continues to be a well-received and attended event amongst both the international and local community in Bern. It provided a good avenue for the Embassy to promote Malaysian culture, food, and tourism.
