The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia called in H.E. Jose Eduardo E. Malaya, Ambassador of the Philippines to Malaysia today, April 13, 2016 to reiterate the request for assistance from the Government of the Philippines in working towards securing the early release of the four Malaysians abducted by gunmen on 1 April 2016.
The four abducted Malaysians are Wong Teck Kang, 31; Wong Hung Sing, 34; Wong Teck Chii, 29 and Johnny Lau Jung Hien, 21. The same request was made by the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines on 6 April 2016. Earlier, on 4 April 2016, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the Honourable Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj. Aman sought the cooperation of the Philippine Government through the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.
Malaysia underlined the utmost importance of ensuring the safety of the four Malaysians and reassured that it would work closely with the Government of the Philippines towards securing their release.
The Ambassador assured Malaysia that the Government of the Philippines is undertaking all the necessary efforts to locate the four Malaysians.

KEJADIAN PENCULIKAN EMPAT ORANG WARGA MALAYSIA DI KAWASAN PERAIRAN PULAU LIGITAN, SABAH
Kementerian Luar Negeri telah memanggil Duta Besar Republik Filipina ke Malaysia, TYT Jose Eduardo E. Malaya pada hari ini, 13 April 2016 untuk mengulangi permohonan Malaysia bagi mendapatkan bantuan Kerajaan Filipina di dalam usaha-usaha membebaskan empat warga Malaysia yang diculik lelaki bersenjata pada 1 April 2016. Empat rakyat Malaysia diculik adalah Wong Teck Kang, 31; Wong Hung Sing, 34; Wong Teck Chii, 29 dan Johnny Lau Jung Hien, 21. Permintaan yang sama telah dibuat oleh Kedutaan Malaysia di Manila kepada Jabatan Hubungan Luar Negeri Republik Filipina pada 6 April 2016. Sebelum itu, pada 4 April 2016, Menteri Luar Negeri Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato' Sri Anifah Hj. Aman telah memohon kerjasama Kerajaan Filipina melalui Setiausaha Hubungan Luar Negeri Republik Filipina.
Malaysia telah menegaskan kepentingan untuk memastikan keselamatan empat warga Malaysia terbabit dan mengulangi komitmen Malaysia untuk terus bekerjasama erat dengan Kerajaan Filipina di dalam usaha ke arah pembebasan empat warga Malaysia berkenaan.
Duta Besar Republik Filipina telah memberi jaminan kepada Malaysia bahawa Kerajaan Filipina sedang mengambil semua langkah-langkah yang perlu untuk mengesan lokasi empat warga Malaysia tersebut.
