On 14 October 2025, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Frankfurt hosted a special ladies’ gathering for members of the Consular Corps, introducing them to Makan Berhidang - Malaysia’s traditional style of communal dining that reflects the nation’s values of togetherness, respect, and hospitality.

The event featured Malaysia’s renowned culinary icon, Dato’ Chef Ismail Ahmad, who shared the origins and cultural significance of Makan Berhidang while showcasing a selection of authentic Malaysian dishes prepared in true traditional style, such as kerabu taugeh, tauhu sumbat with kuah kacang, ikan bakar with air asam, gulai ayam ubi kentang, kacang boncis goreng, and telur dadar, complemented by sirap pandan and the fragrant teh ‘O’ - an inviting preview of what awaits travellers for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

This initiative not only celebrated Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage but also fostered cultural exchange and friendship among the ladies of the diplomatic community.
