MALAYSIAN TRADE AND INVESTMENT MISSION TO GERMANY, FRANKFURT, 21 APRIL 2009

A trade and investment seminar was held at the Inter Continental Hotel, Frankfurt on 21 April 2009.  The seminar was attended by 200 participants, including a 65-member business delegation from Malaysia.  The Seminar was officiated by H.E. Datuk Zakaria Sulong, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany, on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry of Malaysia.

The Seminar was followed by a business luncheon and meetings between Malaysian and German companies.  Among the Malaysian business organization that joined the delegation were the Halal Industry Development Corporation Sdn Bhd., the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), the Iskandar Regional Development Authority and Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).  On the German side, companies like TIMA International GmbH, Deutsche Bank AG, Carl Zeiss Industrie Messtechnik GmbH, Wurth Industrie Service GmbH, BHF Bank and SGL Carbon GmbH were present.  Total trade between Malaysia and Germany in 2008 amounted to US$11.35 billion, while investments from Germany into Malaysia for the same period was recorded at US$5.6 billion.
