Ambassador Dr. Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, calls on H.E. Bouabdellah Ghulamallah, Minister of Religious Affairs and Waqf, at the Minister?s office on 7 December, 2009. Also present, were Mr. Mohamed Aissa, Director of Religious Orientation, Prof. Dr. Khiati Abdel Kader El Amir, Counselor to the Minister, Mr. Yessin Keciour, Chief of Protocol and Mr. Fellahi Abda, Director of Information and Communication. Aged 65, the Minister has been in the post since 1997 and had visited Malaysia three (3) times.

| Among others, the Malaysian Envoy proposed to the Algerian side to consider Malaysia as its partner to develop Islamic banking, services and halal products in Algeria and in Malaysia. Malaysia would also be happy to cooperate in the matters of Tabung Haji (Haj pilgrims), zakat and exchange of Imams and Islamic scholars. |

| The Minister presented a copy of the Al-Quran handwritten in Algeria to the Ambassador as a gesture of brotherly relations between Malaysia and Algeria. The Minister confided that Algeria has high regards on Malaysia. The Ambassador also thanked the Algerian Government for sponsoring its participant at the last International Quran Recitation in Algiers in September, 2009. |
