The Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria, Dr. Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, together with the PERWAKILAN members, hosted the 1Malaysia Iftar and Tarawikh Prayers at the Malaysian Residence on 5 August, 2011. About 50 Malaysians, including non-Muslim Malaysians and few Algerians who are married to Malaysians attended the Iftar. Some of the Malaysians came from as far as Constantine, 400kms from Algiers.
There was also a TV coverage by the Al-Quran Al-Karim Channel to highlight the way Malaysians have for Iftar, as well as, the history of Islam in Malaysia. They were also impressed to see the presence of non-Muslims to break fast together with their Muslim friends. This aspect would be very much highlighted during its broadcast to the Algerian public soon.
