WORKING VISIT OF YAB DATO’ SERI DR. AHMAD ZAHID HAMIDI,
DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA
TO THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, will be undertaking a working visit to the People’s Republic of China, from 1 – 4 February 2016. YAB Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, YABhg. Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis and senior government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs.
This will be the first working visit by YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to the People’s Republic of China as the Deputy Prime Minister. YAB Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to call on the leaders of the People’s Republic of China and will hold meetings with His Excellency Meng Jiangzhu, Secretary of Central Political and Legal Affairs, Communist Party of China and His Excellency Gou Shengkun, Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, to further strenghen bilateral relations and exchange views on current regional and international issues of common interest.
Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China continue to enjoy close and cordial bilateral relations and cooperation in key areas which includes politics, economy and trade, defense and security. China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner since 2009. Malaysia is China’s 8th largest trading partner worldwide and the largest trading partner among ASEAN countries, largest source of imports and second largest export destination. For the period January-November 2015, total trade with China increased by 12.0% to US$54.38 billion (RM210.63 billion) compared with the corresponding period of 2014. Total exports increased by 11.6% to US$24.02 billion (RM93.17 billion), while imports grew 12.3% to US$30.36 billion (RM117.46 billion) for the same period.
