The Embassy of Malaysia in Algiers extends its deepest condolences to the Government and the brotherly people of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on the passing of former President, His Excellency Liamine Zéroual.
A true Mujahid and a statesman of integrity, President Zéroual led Algeria with courage during a pivotal era. Malaysia fondly remembers his contribution to our bilateral ties, notably his visit to Kuala Lumpur in 1997 for the G-15 Summit, where he met with then-Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to strengthen South-South cooperation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Algerian nation during this period of national mourning. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
