As part of the efforts to promote closer ties with think-tanks of the host country, H.E Dr Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria, visited CNES on 12 March 2012. The Ambassador had a fruitful one hour discussion with Mr. Mohamed Seghir BABES, the President of the Council and two (2) other senior officials. Mr. BABES is also one of the most influential advisors to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Among the topics of discussion, include, the political and economic situation of Algeria and the challenges that the Algerian Government is facing in addressing the current reforms initiated by the President of Algeria. The regional situation, particularly, on the Arab Spring and future direction of the Arab Magreb Union (AMU), were also discussed. Both sides also agreed to look into the possibilities of cooperation between the think-tanks from both countries.

VISITE AU CONSEIL NATIONAL ECONOMIQUE ET SOCIAL (CNES)
Dans le cadre des efforts de promouvoir les relations entre les think-tanks de son pays hôte, SEM Dr. Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, Ambassadeur de Malaisie en Algérie, a rendu visite au CNES le 12 Mars 2012. SEM l’Ambassadeur a eu une heure de discussions fructueuses avec SEM Mohamed Seghir BABES, le Président du Conseil, et deux de ses collaborateurs. Mr. BABES est aussi l’un des plus importants conseiller du Président Abdelaziz Bouteflika. La situation économique et politique de l’Algérie ainsi que les défis auxquels le Gouvernement Algérien fait face dans le cadre des reformes que le Président a fait, étaient parmi les sujets abordés.
La situation régionale, particulièrement les événements du Printemps Arabe et la future orientation du Maghreb Arabe Uni (MAU), furent aussi abordées. Par ailleurs, les deux parties se sont entendues pour étudier les possibilités de coopération entre think-tanks des deux pays.
