Malawakil Madrid was headed by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Naimun Ashakli Mohammad, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Spain, while Malawakil Rabat was led by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Othman Samin, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Morocco.
The Madrid-Rabat Games is an annual event funded personally by the officers and staff from both Embassies. The objective of this event is to instil a sense of togetherness, camaraderie and friendship among the officers and staff from both Malawakil Madrid and Malawakil Rabat.
The First Annual Games between Malawakil Madrid and Malawakil Rabat took place in 2008 under the initiatives of the two Ambassadors above. Malawakil Rabat, as the host for the First Annual Games emerged as the overall champion.
There were five games played; billiard, futsal, volleyball, bowling and table tennis. Malawakil Madrid managed to defeat Malawakil Rabat in three out of these five games, namely billiard, futsal and volleyball, whereas the latter triumph in bowling and table tennis.
There was a Gala Evening on the final day to mark the closing of the Second Madrid-Rabat Annual Games 2009. Malawakil Madrid was announced as the overall champion and received the trophy. Prizes were also given to the winners of each game.
Both teams had displayed high spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork in ensuring the success of this event. The Second Annual Games between Malawakil Madrid and Malawkil Rabat has managed to achieve its objective in fostering togetherness, camaraderie and friendship between both teams.
