The Editorial Office and Traders Club, two international organizations based in Spain for the global business community has organized the New Millennium Award on 16 November 2009 in Madrid, Spain. There were three categories in this yearly event; the 12th International Transport Award, the 21st Golden Construction Award and the 23rd Europe Award for Quality. The event this year marked a significant milestone for the Malaysian business community in which six Malaysian companies were chosen to receive the International Golden Construction Award and one Malaysian company to receive the International Transport Award. Malaysia is one of the member countries with the most companies to receive awards at the ceremony this year.
The six Malaysian companies that received the award in the construction category were Adiqa Engineering Sdn. Bhd., Ibraco Construction Sdn. Bhd., Mansashi Sdn. Bhd., Megat Ahmad Shahrani Sdn. Bhd., Soil Centralab Sdn. Bhd. and Sunway Engineering Sdn. Bhd., while Miri Port Authority was the sole Malaysian company that had garnered an award in the transport category. Other countries that also received awards were Saudi Arabia, India, Oman, Brazil, Serbia, South Africa and Kenya, among others.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Spain, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Naimun Ashakli Mohammad was invited to present the awards to the seven Malaysian companies. Other Ambassadors and foreign diplomats were also present at the ceremony.
