5. Issuance of Emergency Certificate (Loss of Travel Document / Passport)

It is advisable that you keep a photocopy of you passport at all times to facilitate you, if you happen to lose your passport abroad. In cases where, under any circumstances your travel document / passport is lost while abroad, these are the steps to follow:
- Report the loss of travel document at the nearest police station.
- Apply for an Emergency Certificate at the nearest Malaysian Mission. Documents required to be submitted are as follows:
- A copy of the police report.
- Other documents that can be used as proof of citizenship.

An Emergency Certificate will be issued by the Mission which would enable the person to travel home to Malaysia (one way trip)
