Y.B DATUK SERI PANGLIMA DR. MAXIMUS JOHNITY ONGKILI, MINISTER OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION, MALAYSIA (MOSTI), VISIT AS CHAIRMAN OF CORAL TRIANGLE INITIATVE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

Y.B Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia (MOSTI), as the newly elected chairman of the Coral Triangle Initiative Council of Ministers (CTI-COM) made an official visit to the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), Indonesia to spearhead the 1st planning meeting with the Interim CTI Regional Secretariat. The said interim secretariat is based in MMAF currently.
The meeting was to provide leadership direction on the CTI implementation roadmap 2012-2013 and ensure a smooth transition as well as to strive towards the establishment of the permanent CTI-RS as agreed during the 3rd Ministerial Meeting in Jakarta in October 2011. The meeting was attended by the high-level officials of the Interim CTI Regional Secretariat (CTI-RS) that was led by the Secretary General of MMAF, Ir.Dr. Gellwyn Jusuf .
Y.B. Dr. Ongkili then called on H.E. Prof. Dr. Ir. Gusti Muhammad Hatta, Minister of Research and Technology of Republic of Indonesia. Both Ministers discussed existing cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. Among one of the issues deliberated was regarding the MOUs by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) relating to the development of e-voting application system in Indonesia and Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD) regarding the reinstallation of tsunami buoy in the waters of Pulau Rondo.
The Minister also made a courtesy call on H.E. Sharif Cicip Sutardjo Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Republic of Indonesia. They exchanged views on the CTI future challenges and also on the transition plan towards the establishment of the Regional Secretariat office in Manado.
