Mission held a dinner reception to jointly celebrate the 53rd National Day, Malaysia Day and Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on 16 September 2010 at the Tiara Convention Centre. The event was attended by about 500 people comprising of local officials and dignitaries, academics, NGOs and Malaysians residing in Medan.
2. The Chief Guest was the Governor of North Sumatera Mr Syamsul Ariffin, who was accompanied by almost the whole government officials of North Sumatera and Medan City i.e. the Chief of Police, Chief of Army, Head of Religious Department, Head of Justice Department, Mayor of Medan and members of the People Legislature.
3. The event started with the singing of the national anthem of Indonesia (Indonesia Raya) and Malaysia (Negara Ku) followed by speeches by Consul General Norlin Othman and Governor Syamsul Ariffin. Guests were later feasted to a dinner of Malaysian food like nasi minyak and rendang, mi udang and kuay teow goreng, lemang and murtabak while being entertained by Malaysian songs and dances.
