CELEBRATION OF THE 51ST ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE DAY IN MUMBAI

 

 

The Consulate General of Malaysia organised an official reception on 31st August 2008 in Trident Hotel, Mumbai to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of Merdeka Day.

 

The event was attended by representatives of the Government of Maharashtra, diplomatic and consular community, Indian businessmen and communities and Malaysians residing in Mumbai.

 

The Chief of Protocol of the Government of Maharashtra, Mr. B.P. Pandey was the Chief Guest at the event. The Indian and Malaysian national anthems were played at about 8.30 p.m.

 

The Consul General M, Mr. Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah delivered his remarks at during the reception, updating the progress of bilateral relations between Malaysian and India, in particular those activities related to or taking place in the State of Maharashtra. He also expressed Malaysia’s sympathy to the victims of flood in Bihar.   

 

The guests were served with Malaysian dishes like satay and kari laksa prepared by Chef Asril Agoos Salim of Genting Resort Hotels. Chief Asril was flown in from Malaysian for the event and for the Malaysian Food Festival to take place from 1 to 7 September 2008.
