CHAIRMAN OF SECURITIES COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA ATTENDED INDIA-MALAYSIA CAPITAL MARKET FORUM IN MUMBAI ON 21 NOVEMBER 2008

 The Chairman of the Securities Commission of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Zarinah Anwar, accompanied by 18 business representatives from Malaysia visited Mumbai from 19 to 22 November 2008 to participate in the first ever forum on India-Malaysia Capital Market.  

Dato’ Seri Zarinah delivered a keynote address at the opening of the forum along with the Chairman of SEBI, Mr. Bhave. She and other delegation members including the Malaysian High Commissioner for India, Dato Tan Seng Sung were also taken to visit the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

 The India-Malaysia Capital Market forum was jointly organised by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Securities Commission of Malaysia. It was intended to provide exposure on the capital markets in India and Malaysia and to explore possible cooperation between both regulatory bodies. The BSE, NSE and Bursa Malaysia had also collaborated in organizing the forum, which was attended by nearly 300 people. At the closing dinner of the forum, the Tourism Malaysia Office in Mumbai on 21 November 2008 had organised for the forum participants a Batik Fashion Evening showcasing a  collection of batik fashions designed by i-Kartini from Malaysia.
