WAU BULAN AND ULEK MAYANG AT THE AMERICAN SCHOOL OF BOMBAY FESTIVAL OF NATIONS
Malaysian children studying at the American School of Bombay and their parents performed dikir barat songs of Wau Bulan Song and Ulek Mayang at the annual Festival of Nations on 27 March 2008.
The dikir barat performance was led by the MAS Manager in Mumbai as tukang karut, while mums were all playing gendang and gong. Dressed in Kain Batik selempang, more than 25 Malaysian children studying at the American School of Bombay displayed their dikir barat talent .The songs roared at the School's Multipurpose Hall in two sessions one each in the morning and in the afternoon. Malaysia participated annually in this event along with South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and India.
