On 12 September 2017, three students from Marist College, Athlone paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Siti Hajjar. The students will be representing Ireland to participate in F1 in Schools World Finals 2017 in Malaysia in October 2017. The team is a collaboration team, with the other half from SMK Agama Johor Bahru, Johor.
F1 in Schools is a worldwide competition where students form a team of 3-6 students to make a miniature Formula 1 car and race against schools around the world. The World Finals this year will be held in Kuala Lumpur, a week before the Grand Prix takes place there.
