INTERNATIONAL CHARITY BAZAAR DUBLIN 2010
PERWAKILAN Dublin participated in the International Charity Bazaar Dublin 2010 on Sunday, 7 November 2010 at the Burlington Hotel Dublin. The annual event was organised by the International Annual Fundraiser of the Diplomatic Corps and Irish Friends. Mr. Gerry Breen, Lord Mayor of Dublin, graced the event as the guest of honour. This is the fourth time that Malaysia was represented at the event since the inception of the Bazaar in 2006.
More than 40 Embassies participated in the Bazaar to raise funds for a group of charities including Disaster Relief by Irish and Pakistanis (DRIP), First Step Georgia, a charity helping children with special needs and Lantern Ireland which provides child minding and catering facilities for immigrants from 26 countries. Funds will also go to ATD Fourth World, Grand Ravine, Haiti to help construct a nutrition programme to pre-school children in underdeveloped villages hit by earthquake in Haiti.
PERWAKILAN Dublin booth offered variety of Malaysian dishes as well as Malaysian batik, crafts and food products. The Malaysian dishes prepared by members of PERWAKILAN include Fried Mee, Fried Meehoon and variety of kuih-muih (Kuih Karipap, Kuih Kasturi and Kuih Popiah). PERWAKILAN Dublin booth also served two of the most favourite Malaysian drinks, Teh Tarik and Kopi ‘O. To a surprise, the Malaysian food and drinks served was able to attract a large number of food lovers, as dishes ran out quickly.
A raffle draw session was also held to raise funds for the charities. As in the previous year, Malaysia Airlines has also contributed a return ticket to Kuala Lumpur for the raffle draw.
Malaysian dishes and crafts received enormous good response from guests on that day and surely helped promoting Malaysia food, culture and tourism to the local and expatriate community.
