- Malaysia is now included as one of the Designated States by Ireland (effective on 4 August 2021)
- According to the Government of Ireland, unvaccinated travellers from any of the countries as listed in the Designated States (including Malaysians as of 4 August 2021) will be subjected to the mandatory hotel quarantine upon arrival in Ireland.
- Travellers to Ireland must quarantine in a designated hotel if you:
- have been in, or transited through, a designated State within 14 days prior to your arrival; even if you have a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to your arrival or
- have been in any other country and arrive without valid evidence of a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to your arrival or
- do not have valid evidence that you first tested positive for COVID-19 with a RT-PCR test taken no more than 180 days and less than 11 days prior to your arrival or
- are not an exempt traveller
- Currently Ireland only recognised the following European Medicines Agency (EMA)-approved vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca and Janssen.
- You do not have to enter Mandatory Hotel Quarantine if you are fully vaccinated with any of the 4 EMA approved vaccines. In this situation, any dependents travelling with you, including children under the age of 18, will also be exempted from Mandatory Hotel Quarantine.
- If you have been vaccinated with vaccines other than Pfizer / Moderna / Astra Zeneca / Janssen, you will have to undergo the Mandatory Hotel Quarantine in Ireland.
