Y.B. Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Minister of Rural and Regional Development was on a working visit to Dublin on 20 July 2011. Y.B. Minister was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Hajjah Shuryani Dato' Haji Shuaib and senior officials from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).
The objective of the visit was to strengthen the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Ireland particularly in the field of education. Y.B. Minister witnessed the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between MARA and two colleges in Dublin namely Dublin Business School (DBS) and Irish University Medical Consortium (IUMC).
Y.B. Minister visited the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) and Trinity College of Dublin (TCD) where he had meetings with the CEOs of both colleges.
During the visit, Y.B Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal took the opportunity to meet Malaysian students and Malaysians working in Ireland over a luncheon.
