VISIT BY THE VICE CHANCELLOR OF UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA PERLIS (UNIMAP)
On 9-12 February 2011, Y.Bhg. Brig. Jen. Prof. Dato' Dr. Kamarudin Hussin, Vice Chancellor of UniMAP held a working visit to Dublin, Ireland. During the visit, he had a meeting with representatives from the Embassy of Malaysia namely Ms. Zurina Ahmad Tejuddin, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Mr. Mohammad Abu Bakar, Third Secretary, to discuss ways to increase bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and Ireland particularly in tertiary education field.
During the visit, Vice Chancellor attended a dialogue session with the Malaysian post-graduate students from UniMAP at Malaysia Hall Dublin. The session was also attended by Ir. Prof. Madya Mohabattul Zaman Bukhari from Dublin City University (DCU), Mr. Mohd Najmuddin Mohd Hassan and Mrs. Tunku Salha Tunku Ahmad from Athlone Institute of
Technology (AIT), and Ms. Nur Amalina Muhyuddin from Tallaght Institute of Technology (ITT). The discussion was mainly focussed on the way forward for UniMAP and the Vice Chancellor had also encouraged the post-graduate students to produce research documentation into journal or publication.
On 11 February 2011, Vice Chancellor attended a gala dinner to mark the fortieth anniversary of the foundation of Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) at the invitation of the President of AIT, Prof. Ciaran O Cathain. The gala dinner was graced by the President of Ireland, Mrs. Mary McAleese. UniMap has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIT on internship programme for students.
