On 22 Oct. 2025, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Kenya, in his capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Nairobi, successfully led the ASEAN Care & Share Programme at Highridge Primary School, Parklands. During the programme, nutritious food and reusable sanitary pads were distributed to the students on that school with over 600 children benefiting from this humanitarian initiative.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Embassies of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Representatives from Together for Better Foundation and UNICHARM Kenya also participated, delivering talks on menstrual hygiene and addressing misconceptions surrounding the menstrual cycle.
A Member of Parliament, Hon. Esther Passaris who is also the Women Representative for Nairobi County was also there to give her words of encouragement and empowerment to the students. This initiative forms part of ASEAN’s collective commitment to uplift underprivileged communities and promote personal and menstrual hygiene awareness among schoolgirls in Kenya.
