On Thursday, 2 February 2023, HE Ambassador Badli Hisham Adam presented his letter of credence to the President of Sri Lanka, HE Ranil Wikramasinghe, at the President’s House, Kandy, which was about 150 KM from Colombo. During the presentation of credential ceremony, the President was accompanied by HE Mohamed Uvais Mohamed Ali Sabry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Mr Saman Ekanayake, the President’s Secretary, and representatives of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
A total of 15 Ambassador and High Commissioner-designates presented their letter of credence to the President, namely Canada, Cote d’ Ivoire, Czech Republic, Jamaica, Malawi, the Maldives, Malaysia, Mongolia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sudan, Sweden, Tanzania, and Uruguay. Only three Heads of Mission from Canada, Malaysia and the Maldives are based in Colombo, while the rest are based in New Delhi.
During the High Tea hosted by the President after the Presentations of Credentials ceremony, HE High Commissioner of Malaysia had the opportunity to engage with the President, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, HE Tharaka Balasuriya. During the short engagements, HE High Commissioner congratulated Sri Lanka for celebrating its 75th Anniversary of Independence. HE Badli also expressed Malaysia’s continued commitment to strengthening the Malaysia-Sri Lanka bilateral relations through consistent engagement and programmes for the benefit of both countries.
