Secretary General, Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin led the Malaysian delegation to the 21st ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials’ Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 18–19 February 2025.
The Meeting reviewed and discussed the implementation of activities under the Comprehensive Plan of Action (CPA) to Implement the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Russian Federation Strategic Partnership (2021-2025).
During the meeting, Malaysia called on ASEAN and Russia to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, transnational crimes, and ICT security, through the ASEAN-led mechanisms. In addition, ASEAN and Russia also among others, discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of economy, energy, education, science and technology, as well as digital cooperation.
The Meeting also exchanged views on regional and international issues, including the situation in Myanmar, South China Sea, Palestine and Ukraine.
