A Taste of Malaysia – Food, Friendship, and Meaningful Conversations**
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the insightful dialogue session with H.E. Jamal Sharifuddin bin Johan, Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico, the students of the “Speak Up” English Conversation Group at FES-Acatlán, UNAM were treated to a special Malaysia Lunch—a heartfelt gesture prepared by the ladies of PERWAKILAN Mexico City.
The students gathered with excitement and curiosity, not just to continue the discussion, but to experience a new culture through one of its most delicious ambassadors: Malaysia cuisine!
On the menu:
Nasi lemak served with rich and flavorful Ayam Masak Merah
Fragrant and spicy Mee Goreng
Traditional desserts of Kuih Talam and Seri Muka, offering a sweet finish with coconut and pandan goodness
As everyone tucked in, the room was filled with smiles, laughter, and conversations that flowed as effortlessly as the sambal on the plate. Many students had never tried Malaysian food before, and their reactions were a mix of surprise, delight, and eager requests for second helpings!
It was more than just lunch—it was a chance to bond, connect and share cultures in a very real and memorable way. The warmth of Malaysian hospitality truly shone through, and the students expressed their appreciation not only for the delicious food but for the opportunity to engage in continued conversation with Ambassador Jamal and members of the Malaysian community.
Big thank you to the wonderful team from PERWAKILAN Mexico City for preparing this heartfelt meal and making the event even more special. It’s true what they say—food brings people together, and this afternoon was a perfect example of diplomacy at the table.
Here’s to more cultural exchanges, more shared meals, and more young minds inspired by global friendships.
