ACMC BUSINESS MISSION TO NUEVO LEON - MEETING WITH NUEVO LEÓN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS 23 JUNE 2025

During the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) Business Mission to Nuevo León, His Excellency Amb Jamal Sharifuddin Johan, Chair of the ACMC and Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico, attended a meeting with key officials from the Government of Nuevo León alongside fellow Heads of Mission from ASEAN countries.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation was given a guided tour of the historic Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Nuevo León (State Government Palace), where they learned about the state's political heritage, cultural richness, and commitment to innovation and progress.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Emmanuel Loo, Acting Minister of Economy for Nuevo León, and Ms. Maricarmen Martínez, Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León. The meeting offered a valuable platform to exchange views on improving economic, investment, and tourism links between Southeast Asia and the State of Nuevo León.
During the dialogue, both parties discussed potential areas of collaboration, including industrial innovation, trade facilitation, and cultural-tourism initiatives. Ambassador Jamal highlighted Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s strong interest in establishing long-term partnerships with Mexican states that share a forward-looking vision of international cooperation and sustainable economic development.
This engagement signifies another important step in enhancing subnational diplomacy and fostering closer ASEAN-Mexico relations at the state level. As the Chair of ACMC, the Embassy of Malaysia sincerely thanks the Government of Nuevo León for their warm hospitality and willingness to explore future cooperation.
