The Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico is pleased to share that His Excellency Ambassador Jamal Sharifuddin bin Johan participated in a diplomatic working visit to the State of Yucatán on 18–19 May 2025, organized by the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of Mexico (SRE) through its General Directorate of Protocol.
This visit, extended to Heads of Mission accredited in Mexico, aimed to showcase flagship national infrastructure projects spearheaded by President Claudia Sheinbaum, notably the Mayan Train (Tren Maya) and the expansion of Puerto Progreso. These transformative projects are central to Mexico’s regional connectivity and sustainable development strategies.
The visit was led by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and included informative briefings and guided tours to key project sites. The program also facilitated dialogue between the Mexican government and members of the diplomatic corps, reinforcing bilateral and multilateral understanding of Mexico’s development vision.
The Government of Mexico graciously provided air and land transportation, accommodation, and interpretation services, ensuring a smooth and productive visit for all participants.
Ambassador Jamal expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to witness first-hand the progress and ambition of these national projects, and reiterated Malaysia’s support for initiatives that promote inclusive development and regional cooperation.
We thank the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of Mexico for its warm hospitality and thoughtful coordination of this important engagement.
